***This information was provided by bluediamondjason, one of our forum members.***If you build a perch frame out of pvc pipes and take a hand held blow torch, you can slowly go back and forth and scorch it brown! It looks just like a real wooden perch! A lot of people are scared of pvc pipes because they think their snakes will slip, but after you scorch them it texturizes the pipe and you can use pliers while it is still warm and make grooves, indentions, and twists. When you are making a indention or twist, do it while its very warm and then run a water hose over it and it will set up instantly! I usually put the whole frame together first and scorch it all as one piece because if you dont, shrinkage does happen slightly and your ends may not fit back into the connectors! They turn out so realistic looking! And the best part is that it is easy to clean and will NEVER MOLD, so it is perfect for those high humidity snakes. I used to use wooden branches but they expire too quickly! HOPE THIS HELPS YOU ALL!

Ya know I've been meaning to try that! One of those things that has been on the list for awhile and never got around to it! Funny, I've been using thick acrylic rods for my GTP and she never slips off... ~B~

That's awesome looking! It really does look like wood. One of my reasons for not using pvc piping is the unnatural look of white plastic just staring back at me. All my enclosures are made of glass, most are snake and/or critter specific with sliding, locking lids. I like to decorate with fake plants, and limbs. It's just my silly way of thinking the snake feels like he's in the natural forest that way. Hadn't heard one complain to me yet. I'll start trying that and see how it works for me.
